Odisha shines in National Para Swimming Championships

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Para Swimmers continued to make waves at the ongoing 24th National Para Swimming Championships at Goa, with a stellar performance on Day 2, securing a total of 13 medals including 6 gold, 6 silver, and 1 bronze.

On Day 1 of the competition, Odisha had already won three medals, including one gold, one silver, and one bronze. The exceptional performance on Day 2 adds to the team’s growing medal tally, with hopes of more success in the upcoming events.

The Para Sports Association of Odisha extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the medalists and looks forward to even better performances on the final day of the competition.

Key Highlights from Day 2:

1. Kamal Kanta Nayak claimed a Gold Medal in the S-4 Category 50m Backstroke with a remarkable time of 1:14.68.

2. Akash Banchhor clinched two medals, securing a Gold Medal in the S-5 Category 50m Backstroke with a timing of 54.51 seconds, and a Silver Medal in the 50m Freestyle, clocking 51.91 seconds.

3. Dinesh Mohan Majhi won a Gold Medal in the S-10 Category 50m Backstroke, finishing in 37.06 seconds.

4. Kabita Dalai earned two Silver Medals: one in the S-6 Category 50m Backstroke with a time of 1:10.36 and another in the 100m Freestyle with a time of 2:23.88.

5. Rinki Behera took home a Gold Medal in the Women’s S-12 Category 50m Backstroke, completing the event in 1:04.91.

6. Narahari Behera had an outstanding day with a Gold Medal in the S-5 Category 50m Freestyle, clocking 45.25 seconds, and a Silver Medal in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 2:46.30.

7. Kanha Patra won a Gold Medal in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:52.86.

8. Bhanumanti Behera secured a Silver Medal in the S-9 Category 50m Backstroke, finishing in 1:05.14.

9. Ranjan Kumar Hansda earned a Silver Medal in the S-11 Category 50m Backstroke with a time of 57.54 seconds.

10. Purandar Rohidas won a Bronze Medal in the S-11 Category 100m Breaststroke, clocking 2:15.60.
