Odisha :Tehsildar falls prey to cyber fraud, duped of Rs 90,000

Bhubaneswar, October 27 : Rosalin Behera, Tehsildar of Talcher in Angul dIstrict reportedly fell prey to cyber crime and lost Rs 90,000.

Despite the state government's repeated alerts and awareness campaigns about online fraud, Behera fell victim to a scam after receiving a deceptive message on her phone from an unknown number.

According to sources, Behera clicked on a suspicious link embedded in the message, unknowingly allowing fraudsters access to her bank account. Shortly after, a notification from her bank confirmed that Rs 90,000 had been debited from her account.

Following the incident, Behera filed a complaint at the Talcher police station, and an investigation has been initiated to trace the culprits.
