Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: The much-awaited Eco Retreat 2024 is set to kick off in Odisha, offering a perfect blend of nature and tourism this winter.
Starting from December 1, the three-month-long event will take place at seven prominent tourist destinations across the state, attracting visitors who seek a peaceful escape from their busy lives. As in previous years, this festival aims to bring nature lovers together, allowing them to relax and rejuvenate amidst serene surroundings.
This year, Eco Retreat 2024 comes with a significant highlight: the cost for accommodation in luxury cottages has dropped. A night’s stay now begins at ₹4,000, marking a first in the history of this event.
Earlier, the staycation started at ₹7,000–₹8,000, but with the arrival of a new government, the rates have been made more accessible for regular tourists, encouraging wider participation. This move aims to boost tourism and make the experience more affordable.
The Eco Retreat will be hosted across six locations, including Bhitarakanika, Hirakud, Daringbadi, Satkosia, Sunapur in Ganjam, and Koraput, and it will continue till March 1. Additionally, after the conclusion of the Konark Festival and the International Sand Art Festival from December 1–5, the Eco Retreat in Konark will begin from December 15 and will continue till March 15.
This year, Konark and Daringbadi have emerged as the most popular destinations among tourists, with bookings for these locations already filling up quickly. Tourists have been booking their stays well in advance, with online reservations available for those seeking a preferred spot.
At each Eco Retreat site, one cottage can accommodate two guests. Tourists can view available facilities, check the rates, and read reviews online before making their bookings. All information is also available on the Odisha Tourism Department's website.
With two major international conferences scheduled for January, VIPs and dignitaries are expected to visit these locations, making it a great opportunity for Odisha's tourism industry to shine. Digital promotions of the Eco Retreat are being emphasized to attract more visitors, making this year’s event a notable success for the state.
