Balasore, Feb 24: In a gory incident, a youth allegedly killed a young woman by slitting her throat after she rejected his love proposal in Soro area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
The deceased has been identified as Jyotirmayee Rana and the gruesome killing has been reported from Lingapada village under Soro police limits in the district.
As per reports, the accused youth, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, had been stalking Jyotirmayee and had proposed her. However, the victim rejected the proposal. Enraged over this, the accused went to her house when she was all alone and slit her throat before fleeing from the scene.
After a short while, her family members returned home and found Jyotirmayee lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit. They rushed her to the Soro hospital, where the attending doctors declared her dead.
Upon getting the information, Soro police arrived at the scene and launched a probe into the matter. The cops also seized Jyotirmayee’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
Efforts are on to trace and nab the accused, said the police.
Notably, the victim had earlier filed a complaint against the accused at the Soro police station alleging harassment.
