Bhubaneswar, February 24: A total of 34.98 lakh farmers in Odisha have now been included in the esteemed PM-KISAN Yojana, informed Agriculture Secretary, Arabinda Padhee.
Padhee underscored that there has been a noticeable increase in participation in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in Odisha. He attributed this to recent initiatives aimed at expanding farmer involvement. His remarks came during the distribution of the 19th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Agriculture Secretary further stated that this year, more than 3.43 lakh farmers have joined the program compared to last year’s figures. A total of 34,98,147 farmers in Odisha benefitted from the scheme this year, marking a significant rise in participation.
The increase in beneficiaries is largely due to a special campaign aimed at enrolling farmers who had been excluded or rejected for various reasons last year. Padhee also mentioned that farmers can now easily register through the authorized portal to avail themselves of the benefits of the scheme.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, a Central Sector Scheme launched on 24th February 2019, provides annual financial assistance of Rs. 6,000/- per eligible farmer family.
