Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para-athlete Suchitra Parida bagged gold medal in the Women’s F-55 Javelin throw event of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix at New Delhi on Thursday. Her outstanding performance secured the top position on the podium with a throw of 15.93 metre.
Viktoriya Vorobey (Kazakhstan) and Pooja (India) won silver and bronze medals with a distance of 14.64m and 13.81m respectively.
This victory marks Odisha’s second medal at the prestigious event, further showcasing the state’s growing strength in para sports.
Expressing her joy, Suchitra Parida dedicated her victory to her coaches, teammates, and the unwavering support of the Para Sports Association of Odisha and Sports and Youth Services Department of Odisha. She also thanked the organizers and the Indian athletics community for their encouragement.
