Lucknow, March 14: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested an employee of an ordnance factory in Firozabad for allegedly sharing confidential and sensitive information with Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, after being ensnared in a honey trap. The arrest was made on Friday, according to a senior officer.
The accused, identified as Ravindra Kumar, worked at the Ordnance Factory in Hazratpur, Firozabad district. He was called to the ATS headquarters in Lucknow and arrested following a thorough interrogation.
Additional Director General (ADG) of UP ATS, Nilabja Choudhary, stated that Kumar had passed sensitive defense-related documents to a woman handler known as 'Neha,' who was linked to Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI.
"Information was received by the ATS and associated agencies about Ravindra Kumar sharing confidential and sensitive details with his ISI handler. Our Agra unit conducted a preliminary interrogation, and Kumar was then brought to the ATS headquarters for detailed questioning. It was confirmed that he had shared critical information with the handler named Neha," ADG Choudhary told reporters.
The officer also mentioned that the ISI module involved in this espionage activity had been operational for some time.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that Kumar had regularly shared a variety of sensitive information, including the daily production report of the ordnance factory, receipts of stores, documents related to criminal circulation, upcoming stock arrivals, and requisitions.
"This method of honeytrapping is a serious threat to national security. These operatives extract valuable information from individuals and use it for malicious purposes," ADG Choudhary added.
