Mpox aka monkeypox is making headlines again. Thankfully, you have the power to keep yourself safe with some easy and effective measures.

Be Mindful of Close Contact

Mpox spreads through prolonged close contact with an infected person or direct contact with body fluids, lesion material, or contaminated items like clothing or linens. 

It's wise to be cautious around others, particularly if they have any rashes or sores. 

• Avoid contact with materials (e.g., bedding, clothing) that have been in contact with infected individuals.

• Practicing good hand hygiene, such as washing hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after contact with infected animals or humans.

You might want to rethink attending events where close contact is common, like crowded parties or festivals. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

In Mpox - Sharing is Not Caring 

Think twice before sharing personal items like cups, utensils, towels, or bedding. Mpox can spread through contaminated objects, so keeping your belongings to yourself is a smart move. If someone in your household has Mpox, make sure to disinfect shared spaces regularly.

Hand Hygiene is Your Superpower

One of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect yourself from any virus, including Mpox, is good old-fashioned handwashing. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially before eating, after using the bathroom, or after being in public spaces. If soap and water aren't available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
