Bhubaneswar, March 10: The Odisha government has identified 3,738 Bangladeshi nationals residing across the state, with deportation measures under review, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday.
Responding to a query by BJP MLA Manas Kumar Dutta regarding the identification and deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, CM Majhi stated that the highest concentrations were found in four districts: Kendrapara (1,649), Jagatsinghpur (1,112), Malkangiri (655), and Nabarangapur (106).
The Chief Minister further informed that in the past decade, 41 Bangladeshi nationals have been involved in various criminal activities within the state.
He assured that all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been instructed to intensify efforts in identifying illegal immigrants within their jurisdictions.
