Over 50,000 devotees throng at Balasore's Chandaneswar Chadak Jatra

Balasore, Ap 9: Lakhs of devotees thronged at Lord Chandaneswar shrine at Bhogaroi block of Balasore district to participate in the Chadak Jatra.

As per tradition, devotees took a dip in Nila pond and offered their prayers to the deity at the temple. Legend holds that bathing in this holy pond can alleviate various ailments.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the Chadak Jatra at the shrine.

The district administration has meticulously arranged for the Chadak Jatra festivities at the shrine, ensuring a smooth and auspicious experience for all devotees. Moreover, 26 platoons police are deployed here to maintain law and order situation.

The Chadak Jatra unfolds in two phases – the Nila Parva and the Pata Parva. Special prayers and thirteen distinct rituals adorn the thirteen-day festival. The Pata Parva, marking the culmination of the celebration, takes place on the thirteenth day.

During the Pata Parva, devotees engage in an emotional display of devotion, piercing their bodies with nails as they participate in a solemn procession.
