Padma Bhusan Trilochan Pradhan passes away

Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: Renowned physicist and Padma Bhusan awardee Trilochan Pradhan passed away on Saturday. He was 93. Pradhan was conferred the coveted “Kalinga Samman- 2014” for popularisation of science amongst the people. Born on 3rd January 1929, Pradhan obtained his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1956. He headed the Theoretical Nuclear Physics Division at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics from 1964-74, was the first director of the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar from 1974-89. He served as the vice chancellor of Utkal University from 1989-91.
