New Delhi, February 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Saturday expressed his gratitude to the people of Delhi on Saturday for their overwhelming support to the BJP in the assembly elections.
Speaking at the party headquarters after their decisive victory, PM Modi highlighted the sense of relief and excitement among the people of Delhi, celebrating the capital’s liberation from the "AAPda" (tragedy) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
PM Modi thanked the citizens for their wholehearted support and pledged that the BJP would repay their faith with progress and development. Taking aim at the ruling AAP, he humorously referred to the party's impact on the city as "AAPda," a term that connotes crisis and mismanagement.
"I thank the people of Delhi for their immense love. Delhi has supported us without hesitation, and I assure them that we will return double the love with development," he said. "Today, there is both excitement and relief among the people of Delhi. They are excited about the victory and relieved that Delhi is now free from the 'AAP-da.' I bow down and thank the people for believing in Modi’s guarantee," he added.
The BJP secured 47 seats, with one more seat leading, in the Delhi Assembly elections, while the AAP claimed 22 seats. Several key AAP figures, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, were defeated in the polls.
PM Modi described the BJP's victory as "historic," emphasizing that it was not just a regular win. "This is a monumental victory. The people of Delhi have driven out 'AAP-da.' Delhi is now free from the 'AAP-da.' The mandate is clear—today, development, vision, and trust have triumphed. The forces of ostentation, anarchy, arrogance, and the 'AAP-da' that held Delhi hostage have been defeated," he said.
The Prime Minister congratulated every BJP worker and supporter for their role in this significant victory.
