PM Modi shares life Mantra, views on idealism and ideology

New Delhi, Jan 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a conversation with Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath, revealed that his life's mantra is to never engage in wrong actions with bad intentions.

Reflecting on his journey, PM Modi acknowledged that mistakes are part of being human, but emphasized that these mistakes should never be driven by negative motives.

"In my first speech as Chief Minister, I said, 'I will not shy away from hard work,' and 'I will not do anything for personal gain.' I also added, 'I am human, and I can make mistakes, but I will never do anything wrong with bad intentions.' This is my guiding principle in life," PM Modi shared. 

He further explained that everyone, including himself, is prone to mistakes, but maintaining good intentions is crucial.

The Prime Minister also discussed the role of idealism in politics, asserting that while ideology is essential, idealism holds greater significance. He pointed to the examples of Mahatma Gandhi and Veer Savarkar, noting that although they followed different paths, their common goal was "freedom."

"Ideals are more important than ideology. While politics cannot function without ideology, idealism is critical. Before independence, the common ideology of freedom fighters was freedom. Gandhi and Savarkar took different paths, but their shared ideology was the same: freedom," he said.

When discussing his own political philosophy, PM Modi underscored that his ideology is centered around putting the nation first. 

"I don’t change my stance for convenience. I have always believed in one ideology — 'Nation First.' Anything that aligns with this principle pushes us to move forward. I am open to leaving behind old traditions, but my guiding principle will always be, 'nation first,'" the PM said.
