Cuttack is hosting the second ODI match between India and England and the energy is high. On Saturday, the Barabati Stadium was overflowing with fans, all desperate for a peek at the Indian team during their practice session. It's been almost five years since these cricket stars last played in the city, and the fans were clearly making up for lost time.

Long lines stretching from the stadium gates, starting in the afternoon, filled with people who couldn't get tickets for Sunday's big game but were still determined to see their favorite players. The "Josh," or enthusiasm, was so high that some fans even showed up on Thursday, hoping to somehow snag a last-minute entry pass, even though all the offline tickets for the general public had been sold out the day before. The demand was so intense that on Wednesday, there was even a near-stampede situation at the ticket counters, with some fans unfortunately fainting after waiting for hours in the crush.

Different Strokes

Here's where things get interesting. While the Indian team was sweating it out on the cricket pitch, getting ready for the crucial match, the England team took a different approach. They skipped their net practice altogether and headed to the Bhubaneswar Golf Club! Captain Jos Buttler, along with Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Matthew Short, and Jamie Overton, reportedly spent nearly two hours enjoying a relaxing round of golf. It is a contrast. It's a fascinating contrast in preparation styles. One team focused on intense practice, the other on relaxation and team bonding. Which approach will prove more effective? Only the match will tell.

Earlier in the day, three Indian players – Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel – took a break from cricket to visit the famous Shree Jagannath Temple, seeking blessings amidst tight security.

Both teams arrived in the city on Friday and received a hero's welcome. Cricket fans and officials from the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) greeted them warmly, from the airport all the way to their hotel.

The craze of cricket lovers was visible. The excitement in Cuttack is undeniable. The long wait for international cricket, the near-misses with tickets, the contrasting team preparations – it all adds up to a thrilling atmosphere. Whether you're a die-hard cricket fan or just enjoy a good sporting spectacle, Cuttack is the place to be this weekend. The contrasting approaches of the two teams – one grinding it out in the nets, the other enjoying a leisurely day on the green – only adds to the philosophical thoughts.
