Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Mar 9: President Droupadi Murmu, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik along with several other political personalities expressed deep condolences over the demise of former Minister Ananta Das.
Taking to ‘X’, Prez Murmu expressed deep grief over Das’s demise and wrote, “Saddened to learn about the passing of Shri Anant Das who served as minister in Odisha government. He worked for the people of Odisha. My condolences to his family, friends and followers.”
Similarly, CM Majhi also condoled the demise of Das and wrote, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of former Minister Ananta Das. As a minister and legislator, he made significant contributions to the development of the state and the Balasore region. His demise is a great loss, as the state has lost a dedicated public servant. I pray for the eternal peace of his soul and extend my heartfelt condolences to his grieving family,” on his ‘X’ handle.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also expressed grief over the demise of Das and wrote, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of senior party leader and former Minister Ananta Das. His dedicated service to the people as a public representative will always be remembered. In this moment of grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and pray for the eternal peace of his soul,” on ‘X’.
Similarly, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo, Pravati Parida and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president also condoled his death.
It is worth mentioning that Das passed away on Sunday at his residence in Bhubaneswar due to geriatric related ailments. He was 85.
Das was elected to the Odisha Assembly from the Bhograi constituency for four times during 2004 to 2019. Subsequently, he served as the Higher Education and Industries Minister in the Naveen Patnaik’s Cabinet.
