Railway Exam Scam: 26 Railway officials arrested, Rs 1.17 crore seized

New Delhi, March 4: The CBI has arrested 26 railway officials, including a senior divisional electrical engineer (DEE) from the East Central Railway in Mughal Sarai, Uttar Pradesh, for their involvement in leaking departmental exam papers. During the raids, the agency recovered Rs 1.17 crore in cash.

Sushant Parashar, the DEE (operations) posted at the DRM office at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, was taken into custody late Monday night, along with several other officials. They are accused of accepting bribes in exchange for leaking papers for a departmental examination intended for promotion to the position of chief loco pilot at Mughal Sarai.

The examination, which was scheduled for Tuesday, has now been canceled as a result of the scam.
