Prayagraj, Jan 28: The Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has appealed the devotees from nearby regions to postpone their visit to Ayodhya by 15-20 days due to the overwhelming influx of pilgrims during this busy period. The request aims to prioritize devotees traveling from farther locations, ensuring smoother access to the Lord’s darshan.
With the start of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on January 26, both Ayodhya and Varanasi have seen a significant surge in pilgrims, making it increasingly challenging for state authorities to manage the situation. The Mauni Amavasya bath on January 29 is expected to draw an even larger crowd of devotees.
The Ram Temple Trust addressed the issue via a statement on X, drawing attention to the “critical situation” caused by the massive number of visitors. Champat Rai, Chairman of the Trust, wrote, “The number of devotees in Ayodhya has surged unprecedentedly in the last three days. Given the city’s size and population, it’s become exceedingly difficult for so many devotees to have darshan of Ramlala in a single day, which is causing significant problems.”
He emphasized that to prevent any untoward incidents, adjustments in the management system were necessary. Rai added, “We request devotees from nearby areas to delay their visit by 15-20 days so that those traveling from farther distances can have easier access to darshan. This will benefit everyone.”
Rai also suggested that devotees from nearby regions plan their visit after Basant Panchami (February 2), when the weather is expected to be more pleasant.
In light of the Mauni Amavasya bath on January 29, which is expected to draw an estimated 10 crore pilgrims to Prayagraj, it is anticipated that many will head to Ayodhya afterward via train or road.
