New Delhi, October 21: Global investor Mark Mobius has hailed the Tata Group as the best business group in India, fondly recalling his meeting with the late Ratan Tata.
Speaking at the World Summit 2024 in New Delhi, Mobius noted that despite Tata's monumental status in Indian industry, he remained remarkably humble.
Mobius, known for his investment expertise, shared his strategy, highlighting that beyond traditional metrics like the Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio, he prioritizes management quality when making decisions. "The most important metric is the quality of management," Mobius stated, emphasizing the need to meet leadership in person to assess this.
Discussing India's prospects, Mobius predicted that the country is set to become a leader in the semiconductor sector, owing to strong demand, a robust economy, and India's well-established software ecosystem. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's digitization initiatives and integration of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), calling these reforms critical for fostering a market economy.
Furthermore, Mobius expressed confidence in India's role on the global stage, suggesting that the country is well-positioned to mediate international conflicts, particularly between Russia and Ukraine, due to its ability to remain neutral and fair.
