Bhubaneswar, Mar 19: The ongoing Budget Session of the Odisha Assembly on Wednesday witnessed an uproarious scene after the opposition Congress created a ruckus.
As soon as the house assembled for the day, the members of the Congress members stormed into the well and staged a protest over alleged rising crimes against women in the state by holding placards. The members of the grand old party also resorted to sloganeering and demanded immediate action from the government.
As the pandemonium prevailed, Speaker Surama Padhy, unable to run the house, adjourned the proceedings till 12:00 PM.
After the adjournment, the Congress MLAs took their protest outside the Assembly and staged a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue within the premises. With placards in hand, they vowed to continue their agitation until their demands were heard.
It is worth mentioning that the Budget session, which began on February 13, will continue till April 5 in two phases – February 13 to February 21 and March 7 to April 5, 2025.
