Bhubaneswar: Salman Khan is making a comeback on the big screen this Eid. The megastar’s Sikandar, which has been named as the most anticipated movie of the year by IMDb, is releasing twenty days from now.
As per latest IMDb rating, the Salman Khan movie Sikandar with 16% popular votes is ranked at number 3. The popularity has increase by 5% over rhe last 4 days but it is stil not of Sa0lman's stature.The action-drama directed by AR Murugadoss is being seen as the biggest Hindi cinema release this year.
With Rashmika Mandanna starring as the female lead, and when AR Murugadoss has clarified that the upcoming movie Sikandar is not a remake but a 24 carat original movie, it is expected to storm the box office with a record opener.
When the buzz around Sikandar is hitting the top with each promotional event, big news swirled around that the film has recovered a significant chunk of its production cost through its non-theatrical deal only.
SIKANDAR RECOVER 80% OF ITS PRODUCTION COST
As per reports, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has inked a very win win deal for the non-theatrical rights of Sikandar. The report claimed that with the profitable deal Sikandar has fetched around Rs 165 crore for its digital, satellite and music rights. .
The post-theatrical streaming rights of Sikandar has been bagged by Netflix on a base price of Rs 85 crore, which can go up to Rs 100 crore if the theatrical returns reach over Rs 350 crore mark.
The makers made around Rs 50 crore for satellite rights from Zee while selling music rights to Zee Music Company at a good price of Rs 30 crore. The overall non-theatrical revenue for Sikandar is expected to be in the range of Rs 165 crore to Rs 180 crore, depending on its theatrical performance.
Produced on a grand scale, the production cost of Sikandar is around Rs 180 crore while P&A cost is estimated to be around Rs 20 crore. Though this product cost doesn’t include Salman’s Khan’s star fee.
The reports claim that the movie recovered more than 80% of its budget with the pre-release business only.
OTT MONEY FOR SRK FILMS
As per reports, Salman Khan’s Sikandar OTT price seems quite on the lower side, when it is in the background of Shah Rukh Khan films.
When SRK’s Pathan was sold at Rs 100 cr, Jawan was sold on OTT for 165cr and Dunki – 154cr. The low price of 85cr seems an understatement.
The ensemble cast of Sikandar also includes Kajal Agarwal Sathyaraj, Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi and others.
