Security forces gun down three Maoists in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border area

Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: At least three Maoists have been gunned down in a joint operation by security forces in the Odisha- Chhattisgarh border area during the intervening night of January 2 and 3.
As per reports, Special Operations Group (SOG) teams, Chhattisgarh Special Forces, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out a joint operation targeting Maoist strongholds in the border areas of Odisha’s Nuapada district and Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district.
An exchange of fire broke out at approximately 11 a.m. today between security forces and Maoists in the Atang Forest, situated near the border between Nuapada and Gariaband, in which three Maoists were gunned down.
The security officials have recovered the bodies of three ultras along with five weapons from the scene.
As per the latest reports, the exchange of fire is still ongoing, and additional details are yet to be received.
