Bhubaneswar, March 9: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a gradual increase in temperatures across Odisha by 3-5°C over the next 4-5 days. In light of this, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory to all district collectors.

The districts most affected include Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir, where temperatures have already reached 37°C or higher today. These areas are expected to experience further rises, with temperatures potentially reaching 40°C or more in some locations over the next five days.

District Collectors have been instructed to disseminate the warning to the public. The SRC’s advisory highlights that while most people can manage the heat, it may pose significant health risks to vulnerable groups, such as infants, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions.

The public is urged to take the necessary precautions, particularly when outdoors during the afternoon hours. Additionally, the SRC has called on all District Collectors to monitor the situation closely and take appropriate measures to mitigate the impact of the rising temperatures.
