Srimandir Parikrama Project: Statewide rice, betel nut collection drive starts

Puri, Jan 6: Ahead of the auspicious inauguration of the Srimandir Heritage Corridor project on January 17, a campaign has been launched today to collect betel nuts and a handful of rice from each household. This initiative, aimed at promoting Jagannath culture at the village level, is being spearheaded by the Odisha government and will run until the 15th of this month.

The decision was taken by the State cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen patnaik.

Worth mentioning, Puri King will offer betel and start the process for ‘Yajnya’ from January 12. Several cultural and spiritual programs will be organized for three days. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to join the conclusion of the ‘Yajnya’ and will later inaugurate the Parikrama Project on January 17. The inauguration will be attended by members of around 60 temples across the country.
