Bhubaneswar: Under the influence of strong easterlies, a cyclonic circulation has been formed over over south Andaman Sea and adjoining SE Bay of Bengal, by the morning hours of Monday, a low Pressure area will formed over the same area.
The NCMRWF model, ECMWF and IMD-GFS predict the low pressure system will be tracking northwest to reach to southwest Bay of Bengal towards the Tamil Nadu coasts by Dec 17, thereby bringing heavy rains along the Tamil Nadu/south Andhra Pradesh coast.
The weather models suggest the system intensifying into a depression in next 24 hours – means by Dec 18.
As per the model predictions of NCMRWF, ECMWF and IMD-GFS, the system will cross south Andhra Pradesh coasts around Nellore on Dec 20/21.
HEAVY RAINS LIKELY IN 5 STATES
Under the influence of the system, as many as five states are going to witness moderate to heavy rainfall between Dec 17 and Dec 21.
While the state of Tamil Nadu will record moderate to heavy rains on Dec 17,18, 19 and 20, the state of Andhra Pradesh will record rain from Dec 19 onwards.
Odisha, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal will record rain on Dec 20/21/22.
As per NCUM-G prediction, the whole State of Odisha will be witnessing moderate rainfall across the districts till December 22.
Odisha will witness another untimely rain, when the paddy procurement is on across the State.
BHUBANESWAR RAINS
Model predictions show State Capital Bhubaneswar recording nearly 16 mm rain on December 19/20. The skies of the State capital will be clouded.
As a consequence the day time temperature in the capital town on Dec 19/20 will drop to around 20 deg C and humidity in the air will rise to around 60% leading to chilly type atmosphere prevailing over the city on that day.
However, the big forecast to fore is, cold wave days over Bhubaneswar are numbered. After 48 hrs, The minimum temperature will be hovering around 20 deg C till Christmas, the models predict.
Clear skies will prevail from December 23.
