Hyderabad, March 18 : In a significant ruling, the Telangana High Court has imposed a hefty fine of Rs 1 crore on a petitioner, Venkata Rami Reddy, for attempting to deceive the court by concealing crucial facts and filing multiple writ petitions in a land dispute case.
The bench, led by Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka, expressed strong disapproval of the petitioner's conduct, emphasizing that such attempts to mislead the judiciary would not be tolerated. The case revolves around a land dispute in which the petitioner, according to the court, intentionally withheld important details and presented false or incomplete information in order to gain an unfair advantage.
Justice Bheemapaka, in his ruling, dismissed the petition filed by Reddy and ordered him to pay a penalty of Rs 1 crore. This amount is to be deposited with the High Court Legal Services Authority by April 10, 2025. The fine is intended not only as a punishment but also as a deterrent to others who may attempt to abuse the legal system in the future.
The court further made it clear that failure to comply with the payment of the fine by the stipulated date would have serious consequences. In such an event, the judge instructed the Registrar (Judicial-I) to ensure that the writ petition is re-listed for hearing on April 11, 2025, without fail.
