In fact the film was scheduled to be released on Feb 13. But due the heavy fan demand, the movie was released a day earlier. Because, the film marks Amitabh Bachchan's comeback to the cinema world after a three-year hiatus - the time when he had joined politics and was a Congress MP from Prayagraj (Allahabad then). Such has been the heights of Amitabh Bachchan’s popularity.

When Big B’s film was released on the opening day, the film recorded 100% occupancy. The record remained unbroken till date.
Even Allu Arjun starred Pushpa 2 The Rule Hindi occupancy on Day 1 averaged at 59.83%, though the night show occupancy had touched 84.75%.
