Rairangpur, Dec 28: In a tragic road accident, two persons lost their lives when a pick-up van collided with their motorcycle near Mahuladiha at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.
The victims, identified as Akash Murmu and Bishwanath Soren, residents of Jirai village under the Thiring police station area, were traveling home on their bike when the collision occurred. Both the motorcycle and the van caught fire following the crash.
Reports suggest that the victims were returning home in the evening after completing some work when the accident took place. Locals rushed to the scene and tried to douse the flames with water, but the fire spread quickly, engulfing the bike. Firefighters later arrived and managed to control the blaze.
The police have seized the bodies and sent them for autopsy. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
