New Delhi, Ap 2: The Odisha Sanskrutika Parishad (OSP) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) successfully organised the Utkal Divas celebration with great enthusiasm and participation. The event witnessed the active involvement of students, faculty members, and esteemed guests.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Chandrasekhar Mohapatra, former Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance; Guest of Honour Padma Shri Guru Geeta Mahalik, renowned Odissi dancer; and Honourable Guest Byomakesh Meher, UPSC educator and founder of Exam Campus. They shared inspiring insights on Odisha's heritage, culture, and traditions with the audience.
The celebrations commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and a warm welcome to the guests. OSP President Yajati Pattnayak, Vice President Shakti Srichandan Mohapatra, and Convenor Manibhadra Nayak played crucial roles in organizing the event.
A variety of sports competitions were conducted, including cricket, badminton, chess, a 100-meter race, and an open marathon. In addition, cultural performances such as Odissi dance and Sambalpuri folk dance captivated the audience, showcasing Odisha’s rich artistic heritage.
Chief Guest Chandrasekhar Mohapatra addressed the gathering on the glorious history and culture of Odisha, while Padma Shri Guru Geeta Mahalik spoke about Odisha’s contributions to art and cultural development. Byomakesh Meher discussed Odisha’s traditions and future development prospects.
The prize distribution ceremony recognized the winners of various sports and cultural competitions, honoring their outstanding performances.
The event concluded with a grand DJ night following a delightful dinner, where students and participants enjoyed music and dance, making the celebration even more lively and memorable.
