Deogarh, Apr 3: In a tragic incident, a widow was allegedly beaten to death by her sister-in-law over a petty issue at Nilabarani Sahi under Debagarh Municipality in Deogarh district on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Jyotsna Bhoj and the accused has been identified as Gita Bhoj, wife of Pratap Bhoj.
Accrding to the information, an altercation ensued between the Jyotsna and Gita over firewood. However, the altercation turned ugly while Geeta in a fit of rage attacked Jyotsna with a sharp object.
Jyotsna was shifted to Deogarh Hospital in a critical codition, however she succumbed to her injuries.
Following the incident, locals detained Geeta and informed police.
Police reachd the spot, arrested Geeta and started investigation into the incident.
