Bhubaneswar, March 9: Veteran BJD leader and former Minister Ananta Das is no more.
Das was 85 who passed away on Sunday at his residence in Bhubaneswar due to geriatric related ailments.
Das was elected to the Odisha Assembly from the Bhograi constituency for four times during 2004 to 2019.
Subsequently, he served as the Higher Education and Industries Minister in the Naveen Patnaik’s Cabinet.
Prior to the political debut, Das worked with the Odisha government as an administrative officer.After retirement, he formed the Bhograi Vikas Parishad and united people to fight for rights of Bhograi, seeking all round development of the cluster.
Later, Das was associated with the National Congress Party (NCP). However, he was elected as MLA Bhograi in 2004 for the first time from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and continued his legacy till 2019.
Apart from it, Das successfully held various key portfolios, including Chief Whip of the government, and Chairman of the Balasore District Planning Board in the Odisha Government.
