Rayagada, Sept 11: A youth was reportedly killed and his girlfriend critically injured after being attacked by the woman's father in Adajor village, under the Kashipur police limits in Odisha's Rayagada district.

The deceased youth has been identified as Mangalsingh Majhi while the woman is Lalita. The accused Bijay Majhi has been fled from the spot after committing the crime.

Lalita, who had eloped with Mangalsingh a month ago, had recently returned to her village and was staying with her family. On Tuesday evening, Bijay asked Mangalsingh to come and take Lalita with him. However, as they were leaving on a bike, Bijay reportedly attacked them with an axe. While Mangalsingh died on the spot, Lalita sustained critical injuries. She was rushed Kashipur Community Health Center then shifted to Rayagada District Headquarters’ Hospital as her condition deteriorated.

Being informed, police reached the spot, arrested the accused and started investigation into the incident.
