Bhubaneswar, February 26: In a dramatic turn of events, a youth scaled a 200-foot-high electricity tower, resulting in a tense six-hour standoff with police and fire brigade officials.
The incident took place in Khamarmunda village under the Puintala police station in Balangir district earlier today.
The individual, identified as Siddhaswar Bhoi, was eventually safely brought down and taken into custody by authorities.
It is said that Bhoi was uncooperative throughout the ordeal, refusing to heed the repeated requests from police and fire brigade personnel to come down. He was later admitted to a hospital for medical care.
When questioned about his actions, Bhoi explained that he had climbed the tower due to mental distress. He also mentioned that this was not his first time scaling the tower and expressed no fear of repeating this act.
