Cuttack, Jan 16: In a brutal incident, a youth was allegedly thrashed a youth to death in Odisha’s Cuttack district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sumanta Sahu, a resident of Gobindpur village under Banki police limits.
As per reports, around 11 attackers armed with sticks and other weapons intercepted Sumanta while he was returning from the Makar fair at the Bada Bandiani Thakurani temple in Tigiria last night.
Thereafter, they brutally assaulted him and left him bleeding heavily by the roadside. Some passers-by noticed him and alerted his family.
Upon getting the information, Sumanta’s mother and sister arrived at the scene and rushed him to SCB Medical College where the attending doctors declared him brought dead.
Later, they filed a formal complaint at the Banki police station. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. The cops sezied the body from SCB hospital and sent it for post-mortem.
The cops have detained six of the 11 suspects involved in the attack so far and are interrogating them to ascertain other details.
