Bhubaneswar, December 2: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Monday that 123 Maoists have been killed in encounters over the past 10 years.
Answering a question by BJP legislator Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, CM Majhi has stated about it today.
In a written reply, the Chief Minister clarified that while 123 Maoists lost their lives in encounters, 11 security personnel also died in clashes with the insurgents.
Additionally, 336 Maoists have surrendered in Odisha between January 1, 2014, and November 15, 2024.
CM Majhi also outlined the state's goal of eradicating Maoist influence by 2026. To meet this target, anti-Maoist operations in Naxal-affected regions have been intensified. These operations are being carried out in close coordination with Central Security Forces (CSF), State Police, and forces from neighboring Naxal-hit states.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that coordination between the State Intelligence Wing (SIW), the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB), and intelligence agencies of neighboring states has been strengthened. Maoist activities are closely monitored, and operations are increasingly based on intelligence inputs.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that steps are being taken to fill vacant positions within the State Police Department. Senior administrative and police officials are closely overseeing the situation and taking all necessary actions to address it.
