Bhopal: A shocking case of medical fraud has emerged from Madhya Pradesh where a man performed 15 heart surgeries at Mission Hospital in Damoh district within just two months. According to complaints, the individual was not a qualified cardiologist but posed as one, leading to patient deaths.

The accused, identified as Narendra Yadav, claimed to be renowned London-based cardiologist N John Camm. He has been missing since a complaint was filed alleging patients died due to his improper treatment.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Mukesh Jain and District Health Officer Dr. Vikram Chauhan have confirmed two deaths resulting from the alleged negligence. Damoh Collector Sudhir Kochar announced that a special investigation team has been formed but declined further comment until the probe concludes.

The revelations have devastated families who lost loved ones at the hospital.

Nabi Qureshi's 63-year-old mother, Raheesa, was admitted to Mission Hospital on January 13 after suffering a heart attack. She underwent angiography on January 14, followed by angioplasty on January 16. During the procedure, she reportedly suffered a massive heart attack, was placed on ventilator support, and died shortly thereafter.

In another case, Jitendra Singh from Patera alleged his father, Mangal Singh, was admitted on February 4 for a gas-related issue. After an angiography, heart surgery was recommended. "He died within hours of the surgery," Singh stated. "Doctors were unavailable before and after the operation. They asked us to buy a Rs 8,000 injection but never administered it."

An NHRC investigation team will visit Damoh from April 7 to 9 to examine the case, including interviews with institutions and individuals named in the complaint, according to NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo.
