1983 World Cup Hero Kapil Dev hits Yuvraj Singh Father’s ‘killer bullet’ to a clean six!

Bhubaneswar: Yograj Singh, father 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh, has been no stranger to controversies.

His is known for making waves. Having a penchant to be at loggerheads with the famous and mighty, recently he stoked a series of controversies during his unfiltered podcast with Samdish Bhatia.

YOGRAJ SINGH ‘SEXIST’ REMARK – PART 1

In the unfiltered conversation, Yograj Singh said that the household head is always a man and that is how a house is run.

When prodded with if a woman can be a household head even if her husband is there, Yograj said, "Indira Gandhi ran this country. She ruined the nation. Sorry to say this."

'You ask any woman to run a household and she will ruin it. Never give power to women. Give them love, respect, and honour,' he said.

'If you give them power, they will destroy everything. I've seen it. If you give women power, they will hold everything for themselves,' he added.

SEXIST REMARK – PART 2

The star cricketer’s father has stoked another controversy when he made what seems as a misogynist remark on Hindi.

“Mujhe to hindi language aise lagti hai jaise koi aurat bol rahi ho (To me, Hindi language gives me the  feeling as if a woman is speaking)” Yograj told the YouTuber Samdish Bhatia.

"Jab aurat bolti hai to buhut acha lagta hai, jab mard hindi bolta hai to aisa lagta hai ke kya bol raha hai ye kon aadmi hai. Mujhe wo difference lagta hai (A woman speaking in Hindi sounds really pleasant, but when a man speaks, it feels like, 'What is he saying? Who is this person?' I sense that difference)," the former cricketer added.

THE REACTION

Punjab State Commission for Women chairperson Raj Gill has taken it into notice. She responded to a video of Yograj Singh on X and said that the panel was inquiring into it.

ABOUT TO SHOOT DOWN KAPIL DEV

In the same podcast conversation, the former cricketer made a very shocking claim on how he was about to shoot down 1983 World cup star hero Kapil Dev.

Conversing with Samdish Bhatia, Yograj Singh said, “In 1980-81, I was selected for the Australia – New Zealand series, but when Kapil Dev became captain of India, North Zone, and Haryana, he dropped me for no reason. My wife wanted me to ask questions to Kapil. I told her that I would teach this bloody man a lesson," said Yograj.

“I took my pistol out and straigtaway went to Kapil’s house in Sector 9. He came out with his mother. I abused him a dozen times. I told him because of you I have lost a friend and what you have done, you will pay for it. I told him, ‘I want to put a bullet through your head, but I am not doing it because you have a very pious mother who is standing here," he added.

The former cricketer and Yuvraj’s father claimed that he was dropped for his proximity with Sunil Gavaskar.

Yograj then bragged that after 2011 World Cup Win, I did send him a paper cutting that my son did better than you in the World Cup.

He whatsapped me telling –  “we will be brothers in next life. We will be born to the same mother next time. He wanted to meet me. But there is a vengeance, and it still hurt.”

CAMERA BOOMED ON KAPIL DEV

Monday photo journalist Pallav Palliwal caught up the ace all-rounder Kapil Dev. When the shutterbug put the Yograj Singh’s shooting down Kapil Dev comment, the veteran cricketer said, “kaun hai ye” “kiski baat kar rahe ho”, when some shouted Yograj Singh, father of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Kapil replied – “Accha… Aur Kuch… Matlab ki baat karo..”
