Bolangir, Feb 4: At least 22 migrant laborers from Odisha including women have been allegedly held hostage by their employer and subjected to physical torture in a brick kiln in Telangana. After knowing about their ordeal, their family members have written to Bolangir district Collector to rescue the stranded workers and bring them back to their village.
As per reports, a labor contractor from Kantabanji had sent 22 men and women, along with six children from six families in Turekela village in Bolangir district to work at a brick kiln owned by Enket Rao in Kishtapali village under the Bollaram police limits of Telangana’s Sangareddy district in November 2024.
A few days after arriving at their workplace, the brick kiln owner allegedly forced them to work day and night without proper food, shelter, or wages. Upon confronting, the employer's goons reportedly abused and assaulted them.
