Jharsuguda, January 28: In a tragic incident, a two-year-old boy died on Tuesday after falling into a ditch, dug at a railway site.
The mishap took place near Siria Bagicha under the Sadar police limit in the Jharsuguda town today.
According to reports, construction of a railway over bridge was going on in the Siria Bagicha area where a number of ditches were dug out for columns. Meanwhile, the child fell into a ditch while randomly playing.
On being informed, the kid was rescued from the spot by the locals and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital Jharsuguda for resuscitation. However, the child was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctors at the hospital.
Police seized the body from the hospital and sent it for postmortem.
