New Delhi, February 13: Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has stated that there are currently 376 vacancies for judges across various High Courts in the country.
Addressing the issue in Rajya Sabha, he mentioned that 219 proposals recommended by the High Court Collegium are presently under different processing stages.
The government is actively working on filling these vacancies to ensure the smooth functioning of the judiciary. Meghwal emphasized that judicial appointments remain a priority and that due process is being followed in consultation with the Supreme Court Collegium.
The issue of judicial vacancies has been a matter of concern, impacting the efficiency of case disposal in High Courts. With several recommendations under consideration, the government aims to expedite appointments to strengthen the judicial system.
