Bhubaneswar, April 2: In a shocking act of betrayal, a woman in a live-in relationship allegedly orchestrated the kidnapping of her partner over suspicions and financial motives in Bhubaneswar’s Jharapada area. The woman, Prapti, 23, from Jamshedpur, plotted the abduction of her partner, Somnath, after a dispute over her possible affair. She confided in her sister, who passed the information to Prapti’s boyfriend, Akash.
On March 30, Akash and three accomplices abducted Somnath from his rented home and held him captive in a hotel in Samapur area. They demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from Somnath's family while subjecting him to physical abuse.
The Commissionerate Police acted swiftly on a tip-off, traced the victim's location, and rescued him after 12 hours. They arrested Prapti and the kidnappers, uncovering a plan fueled by greed and suspicion. Further investigations are ongoing to determine if others were involved.
