Former Junior Clerk gets four years RI for bribery

Das was earlier charge sheeted by Odisha vigilance for demanding and taking bribe of Rs.10, 000 from a complainant for facilitating issuance of RoR in his favour in a lease case. He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years.

Bhubaneswar, April 3: Sukanta Kumar Das, Former Junior Clerk of office of Tahasildar, Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district, at present Junior Clerk of Collectorate, Jagatsinghpur has been convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack for demanding and accepting bribe. 

Das was earlier charge sheeted by Odisha vigilance for demanding and taking bribe of Rs.10, 000 from a complainant for facilitating issuance of RoR in his favour in a lease case. He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years. 

Following his conviction by the court, Das was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.

Further, the Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal Das from service following his conviction
