Kathua (J&K), April 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday for its unwavering commitment to securing the nation's borders, often enduring harsh weather conditions and staying vigilant round the clock. Speaking at the 'Vinay' border outpost in Kathua, Shah recognized the BSF as the nation's first line of defense, emphasizing its pivotal role in national security.

Shah highlighted the extreme challenges faced by BSF personnel in safeguarding the border, saying, "Here, you truly witness the tough conditions under which you maintain the security of our borders. Whether braving freezing cold, heavy rain, or scorching heat, you are on duty 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. No moment allows you to relax. Your vigilance ensures that no adversary can breach our borders."

Reaffirming the government's commitment to border security, the Home Minister assured that advanced technological support would be provided to the BSF in the coming years. "The entire nation knows that the BSF is our first line of defense. In every conflict with Pakistan, the BSF has played a crucial role alongside the army. Over the next 3-4 years, we will equip the BSF with cutting-edge technologies for enhanced threat detection and immediate response capabilities. This will fortify border security along both the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders."

Shah further reiterated that supporting the BSF remains a top priority for the Indian government. "We are always ready to implement any plans that will help strengthen the BSF. Currently, 26 experiments are underway, and by next year, we will finalize decisions that will greatly benefit the force," he added.

In addition, the Union Home Minister expressed his condolences to the families of Jammu and Kashmir police officers who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism. He is set to distribute appointment letters to the families of these martyrs.

Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhar, paid tribute to the fallen officers and acknowledged the Home Minister's "Zero Terror" plan, which has motivated the state's police force to dismantle the terrorist network. "So far, 1,620 policemen have been martyred. Recently, two Pakistani terrorists were neutralized by our brave officers. With strong coordination between all agencies, we are determined to rid Jammu and Kashmir of terrorism," the DGP stated.
