Cuttack, Oct 17: In a latest development of the marital discord between actor turned politician Anubhab Mohanty and his wife Barsha Priyadarshini, the Orissa High Court on Tuesday accepted the Anubhab’s divorce petition and issued a notice to opponent Barsha Priyadarshini.

Anubhab on Monday had moved the Orissa High Court challenging the verdict of family court. The Family Court had rejected Mohanty’s divorce petition on September 22. It had also rejected the plea of restitution of conjugal rights filed by Barsha.

Notably, Ollywood star couple Anubhav Mohanty-Barsha Priyadarshini appeared before the SDJM court last week. The couple appeared before the court as part of a hearing of the domestic violence case lodged by Varsha.

On September 22, the Family Court in Cuttack made a notable decision by rejecting Mohanty's divorce petition, as well as dismissing Varsha's plea for restoration of conjugal rights.

The actor who transitioned into politics had submitted a divorce petition in an attempt to end his marriage with Varsha Priyadarshini. Conversely, his wife had also filed a petition under Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act, seeking the restoration of her conjugal rights. During the legal proceedings, the family court in Cuttack dismissed both petitions.

Anubhav had also issued a heartfelt plea for a friendly separation in a recent social media post. In contrast to previous instances where he criticized the actress on social media, he had openly expressed his love for her "from the depths of his heart" and expressed his desire for their friendship to endure post-divorce.
