Ashutosh emerges Priyabrata memorial snooker champion

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace cueist Ashutosh Padhy stopped his Coach Subrat Das and emerged champion of the 3rd Priyabrata Patnaik Memorial 10Red Snooker Championship, which concluded here on Friday. In the final, Ashutosh edged out Subrat 5-2 (73-00, 48-06, 37-27, 03-53, 33-47, 44-18, 47-31).

Ashutosh registered a flying start by winning the 1st 3 consecutive Frames and made a straight Lead of 3-0. and soon thereafter Subrat geared up from behind and bounced back with 2 consecutive Frames wins to cut the gap and control the scenario at 3-2 down. But later Ashutosh played much more accurately and dominated the proceedings to claim a 5-2 win.

Including today's Title, till date Ashutosh has won 16 Open Snooker Titles whereas Subrat has 32 Snooker titles to his name. This was Ashutosh's 2nd Priyabrata title and Subrat's 2nd consecutive Runner Up milestone. 

The champion Ashutosh Padhy and runner up Subrat Das received trophy and cash award of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. While the semi-finalists and quarterfinalists got Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively and Highest Break received Rs 3000.

Bhubaneswar Club President Ashit Tripathy gave away the prizes in presence of Billiards Snooker Association of Odisha President Tara Ranjan Patnaik, BSAO secretary Sameer Ali, Lipsa Mishra, Srimoy Kar, Kaushik Mohapatra and Govind Sharma.
