Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: A Nepali girl student was found dead at the hostel campus of a private university in Bhubaneswar last night triggering high tension in the premises of the educational institution.
The deceased student has been identified as a B.Tech third-year student from Nepal and it is alleged that she has committed suicide.
Though the exact reason which prompted the girl to take the extreme step is still unclear, preliminary investigations suggested that dispute over love-relationship might be the cause.
As per reports, the deceased was reportedly in a relationship with a mechanical engineering student at the same university since the last three-years. However, their relationship took a downturn when the boy received a job offer and relocated, which led to a misunderstanding between the couple.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage among students, with many taking to the streets to demand justice for the deceased. Angry students blocked roads near the campus demanding for the arrest of the deceased's boyfriend.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and took cognizance of the escalating situation. Two platoons of police force were deployed at the university campus to pacify the agitating students and maintain law and order situation.
The cops have also seized the girl’s body and sent it for postmortem to the Capital Hospital.
The university has also notified the student's parents about the tragic incident, and they are expected to arrive shortly.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
