Bhubaneswar, March 12: With Holi, the vibrant festival of colours, fast approaching, the Commissionerate Police has released a set of guidelines to ensure safe and responsible celebrations. Bhubaneswar’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena warned that anyone caught playing Holi under the influence of alcohol will face arrest, urging people to avoid bathing in rivers or pools after drinking.
To maintain order and safety, police and fire department personnel will be stationed at all river ghats, while PCR teams will be deployed to manage traffic and prevent congestion caused by Holi festivities. Additionally, 20 platoon forces will be on duty in the city on Holi Day.
The police will also target the illegal liquor trade and strictly prohibit the sale of chemical colours. Only herbal colours, made from natural ingredients, will be allowed for sale, the DCP confirmed.
Holi celebrations are set for March 15, and the city is already buzzing with excitement. Many people are choosing organic colours, known for being gentle on the skin, though it’s crucial to ensure the colours are authentic to avoid counterfeit products.
The Commissionerate Police’s measures aim to provide a safe, enjoyable, and responsible Holi for everyone, Meena concluded.
