Karachi/Islamabad, March 12: Security forces in Pakistan successfully rescued 190 passengers from a hijacked train on Wednesday, after engaging in a fierce battle with militants in the volatile Balochistan region. At least 30 militants were killed during the operation. Tragically, some of the hostages were found dead.
The Jaffar Express, which was en route from Quetta to Peshawar with nearly 400 passengers across nine coaches, was derailed by explosives planted by militants before being hijacked.
The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack on Tuesday, stating they had killed six soldiers. However, Pakistani authorities have not officially confirmed any casualties.
