Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: In an unfortunate incident, two minor boys drowned while immersing the idol of Goddess Saraswati in the Kuakhai River near Rangbazar under Balianta police limits on outskirts of Bhubaneswar today.

The deceased have been identified as Divya Jyoti Mahalik (15) and Sikun Sahabi (15), students of a private coaching center in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, Sikun and Divya Jyoti along with some of their friends had gone to the Kuakhai River to immerse the idol of Goddess Saraswati when they slipped into the deep water and drowned.
Soon after, other students alerted their parents and the Balianta police.
Upon getting the information, Fire Services personnel and Balianta police rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to trace the boys.
Later, the students were rescued and rushed to the Capital Hospital where the attending doctors declared them brought dead. The cops then seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
