Jhansi, January 10: With a big question pointed towards police and its efficient investigation, a Bihar man, who was recorded killed 17 years ago, has been spotted alive in Jhansi.
The mysterious case came to light when the Jhansi Police found a person who was registered as "dead" in Bihar Police records.
The family of the man, reported as the victim in police record was devastated while the families of as many as four innocent ones alleged as convicts, faced rigorous imprisonment and judicial whips in connection with the case. However, the victim’s physical appearance on this January 6, put the Bihar Police in a crossword puzzle.
The victim as per the complaint and in the police record, has been identified as Nathuni Pal, a 50-year-old resident of Deoria in Bihar who was spotted living in a Jhansi village all alone.
During investigation Nathuni said, "My parents died when I was a child, and my wife left me long back. It has been around 16 years since I last visited my home in Bihar"
Following this, Pal was handed over to the Bihar Police for review of the murder case.
The case dates back to 2009 when Nathuni Pal went missing from his house all of a sudden and found nowhere despite a frantic search by his kith and Kin.
Following this, Pal's maternal uncle registered a complaint against another uncle and four brothers, accusing them of killing him to grab his land properties.
Acting on it, the police took four accused to custody on charges of murder. Four men - the missing man's paternal uncle and brothers - later served jail terms for the alleged murder. While the uncle is now dead, three brothers are out on bail.
With the homecoming of the alleged victim, the accused persons have questioned on the truancy of the complaint and the transparency of the police investigation.
