New Delhi, April 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, assuring the nation that justice will be delivered to the victims.
In his monthly Mann Ki Baat address, Modi said the terrorists and those who orchestrated the killings of 26 civilians would face the harshest punishment.
“The blood of every Indian is boiling after seeing the images of this heinous attack,” he said, expressing anguish over what he described as the worst terror attack on civilians in Kashmir in recent times.
Modi underlined that the unity and collective strength of India’s 140 crore citizens remain the greatest force in the nation’s fight against terrorism. “This unity is the foundation of our decisive war against terror,” he said.
Referring to the growing peace and development in the Kashmir Valley, Modi said the attack reflected the desperation and cowardice of those who support terrorism — a veiled reference to Pakistan. He noted that the region had been witnessing a surge in development, from the increasing number of tourists to the strengthening of democracy, rising incomes, and greater opportunities for youth.
“Enemies of the country, the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir, could not digest this progress. They conspired to destroy this positive change,” the Prime Minister said.
He expressed deep sorrow over the attack, stating that the incident had wounded the hearts of every Indian, regardless of state or language. “Every Indian stands with the grieving families,” he said. “I want to reassure them — justice will be done. The perpetrators and their conspirators will not be spared.”
Modi also emphasized the need for collective national resolve. “We must strengthen our will to face this challenge head-on. Today, the entire country speaks in one voice, united against terror.”
